I am a self-taught artist in Waukesha, WI. My paintings are pretty simple. I carry a camera with me as often as I can, just in case I spot something beautiful – like a hummingbird or a really cool insect. I take hundreds of pictures, and spend hours sorting through them. They don’t always turn out great, but every so often, one makes my heart jump, and I know I have to paint it.
The images that really speak to me are ones of kindness, redemption, strength, love and beauty. There is cruelty in the world, but everywhere we look, there are living beings overcoming seemingly impossible circumstances, nurturing those who are weaker, and living symbiotically in our damaged environment. This is what I hope to draw attention to when I share my paintings.
My skills are constantly growing, and every year my paintings evolve into something better than the previous year. This is probably the greatest reward for pushing through the difficulties of creating art. I hope my efforts will help change minds and open hearts, and eventually lead to a kinder, gentler world.
